Advice from our experts

What makeup do we apply to eyes and brows, and why?

We can create the most powerful makeup illusions using line, shape and contrast. Our eyebrows allow for us to use all these elements at once so this is a great place to start a beautiful transformation. We darken them to increase their visibility because they indicate where the forehead ends and the eye area starts, framing our best communicating feature, the eyes. Defined and groomed eyebrows also result in eyelifting illusions and well-groomed appearance.

PMU’s wide range of hair-coloured eyebrow products make it easy to achieve neat, natural-looking eyebrows.

If you want your eyeshadows to transform the eyes to appear younger, wider, longer and so on, your personal collection should include light, mid-tone and dark eyeshadows – all to be used in a single application.

Highlighters make an area look larger or more prominent. Mid-tones create shade/shadows that make an area appear less prominent, smaller or receding – ideal for application on bulging, puffy or sagging skin. Dark shadows frame the eyes at the rims and add a full and lush appearance to eyelashes.

Matte eyeshadow in natural colours is essential for transformational applications that don’t look like makeup is applied, while our pearlised and anti-ageing eyeshadows, along with our shimmer dust, add some life or glamour to eyes. Matte eyeshadow generally applies with more pay-off and is longer lasting, so a great tip is to use our matte range to create light and shadows on the eyes and then add a sweep of pearlised colour on top to “accessorise” with your clothes or add some sophistication to the look.

We all know what eyeliner is, but why is lining the eyes important? Just as a frame enhances a picture, eyeliner enhances our eyes; but, framing is an art and the wrong frame can detract from the beauty in the picture. PMU’s eyeliner collection offers solutions to avoid typical eyeliner issues.

Avoid hard edges if your lining technique is not perfect by choosing PMU’s dark eyeshadow as eyeliner or blur pencilled/painted edges by adding shadow over eyeliner.  You can also use our crème eyeliner which allows blending until it’s dry. If you need water/smudge-proof results, start with our gel eyeliner and add some shadow to soften the edges if desired. If your hand is steady and skilled for precision, you’ll love our felt-tip eyeliner. Computer-tired eyes will love our Waterline Liner and Bright Eyes to combat redness.

Mascara is especially important on the upper lashes, creating an opening and eye-lifting effect. Contact lens wearers and sensitive
eyes love our Sensitive Mascara. Tearing eyes do best with our healthy, tearproof formula. Look at our luxury formula for voluminous effects without the dry clumps.
